Presentation # 5 - Creator, Savior, Protector Sabbath PM, May 8, 2010
Title: Creator, Savior, Protector
Topic: Creation
Introduction:
I. Who created this world:
a. Man’s Position
i. Grew or evolve for apes. Charles Darwin (1809-1882) Theory of Evolution- Animal adopts and evolve based on their environment.
ii. Lower form to a higher form. Jean Baptist de Lamarch (1774 to 1829) “The inheritance of Acquired Characteristic” where animals adopt and loose part of their body they no longer need and passes it on to their offspring.
iii. Why these new discovers:
We must note the time of these scientist and biologist. It was around the time of the Age of Reason, the 1800s. Man began to think independently of the Church and sought to find truth and reality for themselves. Science began to explore theology. When this scientist could not understand or explain creation they resorted to science to explain things in the world. (Faith and Reason at odd with each other.) The challenge is believing what is or thinking up your own understanding of what really is (Philosophy)
iv. Man believed (Enlightenment) was that we came out of bad to good form, or a lower species of animal to a higher, or imperfect to perfect. Hence, we evolved.
II. Other theories and worldview of man proven wrong during their time:
a. Worldview was that the EARTH was the center of the Universe, Nicolaus Copernicus (19 February 1473 – 24 May 1543) was a Renaissance astronomer and the first to formulate a comprehensive heliocentric cosmology, which displaced the Earth from the center of the universe.[2] He calculated that the Earth was not the center of the universe; this was a different view from the Platonic worldview at the time. It was thought that the earth was the center. This belief was also adopted by the church at that time.
b. Then Galileo Galilei 15 February 1564[4] – 8 January 1642)]was an Italian physicist, mathematician, astronomer, and philosopher who played a major role in the Scientific Revolution. His achievements include invention of the telescope and consequent astronomical observations, and support for Copernicans. Galileo has been called the "father of modern observational astronomy,"[6] the "father of modern physics,"[7] the "father of science,"[7] and "the Father of Modern Science." His invention of the telescope, proved by observation of the Sun, moon, and other planets, confirmed Copernicus’s calculation by observation of the sun through his telescope.
c. Prior to 1492, the world view was that the earth was flat, until Christopher Columbus sailed west to reach India, and found the Americas and the Caribbean Islands.
III. Today scientist are constantly changing their worldview:
a. Prior to the Hubel telescope, we were uncertain and had a totally different opinion of the birth of the stars.
b. We have several different views of how the earth was formed, some say by a meteorite, other by swirling gas, other elements in the universe, other –the question is still out.
c. The question today, where is:
1. Creationism- God created everything GOOD and sin reduces them to a lower level. (Genesis 1:31) ”God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.”
2. Natural Selection- Animal selects how to live in an environment.
3. Adoption –animal adapt to their environment. Change form to cope with current situation.
4. Evolution- We came for bacteria, lower form and grew/evolved in man over millions of years. This is a theory can cannot be proved.
Who is right?
d. All are theories… EXCEPT for GOD’s answer :
IV. Creation view of the beginning of the World, earth:
a. God’s position:
i. In the beginning of Man, God created (Genesis 1:1)
ii. All things created Good (Genesis 1:31)
iii. State of man after creation (Genesis 6:7) Man was not getting better but worse, due to sin.
iv. David noted the Creator’s work (Psalms 33:6)
v. God create man, (Genesis 1:26-27) “He spoke the animal, trees, birds and fish into existence. SO MAN CAN NEVER POSSIBLE IS LIKE THOSE OTHER CREATURES.
Body
V. The Creation examined:
The Universe: (Man’s estimation):
i. Space- 50 thousand million galaxies, each containing 50 thousand million stars. New discovery made by the hobble telescope: new stares, birth of stars,
ii. Our milky way galaxy measured: 100,000 light years, 1,000 light years thick, contains 100-400 Billion stars, radius of 50,000 light years
iii. God created the heavens (Isaiah 45: 12)
b. Earth:
i. God created earth (Amos 4:13)
ii. Ocean, new discovery of spices below miles of water. (Genesis 1:20)
