Topic: Stewardship of Health
 
 
Introduction
 
I.                    Our Body- and its statistics and mystery:
a.       Water contents: 99% of our body
b.      Mineral contents: (Oxygen, Carbon, Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Calcium, phosphorus) commonly found in earth’s crust.
c.       Blood: 7% of body weight and is about 10 Pints in the body.
d.      Miles of blood vessels: 60,000 miles long in a child and an adult's vessels would be closer to 100,000 miles long.
 
e.       Life expectancy:
                                                                                 i.            2009: 77.7 years.
                                                                               ii.            100 years age:
                                                                              iii.            Bible figures: Noah, Abraham, Salomon, David, Moses:
             
f.        Diseases 2009 stats:
                                                                           i.      Heart diseases: 631, 636
                                                                         ii.      Stroke:137119
                                                                        iii.      Chronic lower respiratory: 124,583
                                                                       iv.      Diabetes: 72,449
                                                                         v.      Cancer: 559,888
                                                                       vi.      Obesity: 66% of America overweight, 31% considered obese. Americans is most likely to suffer from chronic diseases, such as heart, cancer, and diabetes than their European counter part.
 
g.       Bad health practices:
                                                                           i.      Smoking: Death rate extrapolations for USA for Smoking: 440,000 per year, 36,666 per month, 8,461 per week, 1,205 per day, (CDC)
                                                                         ii.      Illegal drugs:

II.                 Our Body a gift from God:
a.       Creation of Man (Genesis 2: 7)
b.      Food of Man.(Genesis 1:29; Genesis 2:15)
c.       How man should live (Ecclesiastes 8:15)
 
III.               God the provider:
a.       God provides for man (Exodus 23:25)
b.      What man shall eat and not eat (Deuteronomy 14:6,9; Daniel 1:8)
                                                                           i.       Clean food (Genesis 1:29; Deuteronomy 14:3-6; 9; 11)
                                                                         ii.      Unclean food (Deuteronomy 14:7-8; 10; 12-18)
 
IV.              Honor God with our bodies what we shall eat and do with it:
a.       Our body is the temple of God (1 Corinthians 3:16, 17)
b.      Abstinence from strong drink, tobacco, and food that is harmful to your body (1Peter 2:11)
c.       Be in good health (3 John 1:2)
d.      Speak good thing. Obtain for fowl languages (Revelation 21:27)
e.       No fat or blood (Leviticus 3:17)
                                                                           i.      Effects of fat on the heart:
 
V.                 Glorify God with your body
a.       What so ever we do it to glorify God (1 Corinthians 10:31)
 
VI.               Rewards of healthy living?
a.       Less visits to the hospital
b.      Longer and healthier life
c.       Better quality of life
d.      Longer time to spend time with love ones
 
e.       Why healthy living?
1.      God wants a people that will represent His great works. We must exemplify the beauty and glory of God in all things. This includes our health.
2.      God wants us to live cheerful (Proverbs 17:22)
3.      God wants our soul to be delighted (Isaiah 55:2)
If you desire to turn you life over to God today to live a healthier life, do not put is off for tomorrow.
